"Art is less a craft than it is a language. Sometimes things get lost in translation, so I spend most of my time finding the artifacts that have been left behind."

For The Players Since 1995 - Sony Commercial
An old advert from Sony just before the release of the PS4. Bedroom scenes are a common occurrence throughout film and television and the production design here clearly separates each era while maintaining certain props to bring them all together in the narrative. The narrative is aided by the pan up to the window showing the London skyline to signify each leap forward in time. Filmed smoothly as though in one take, the rooms are each clearly different eras but still the same in the sense that they are cluttered and filled with the usual junk, until we reach the PS4, the room is clean and neat, tying in the 'growing up' of the PS4 with the growing up of the characters in the room and and provoking feelings of smoothness, neat design, efficiency, modernism etc.

This show reel features many recent blockbusters and shows how the world of set design is shifting from physical environments to digital ones. What effect does this have on the actors performances? Does it give the film makers more freedom?
